Resources
Overview
Resources let you store files and text documents alongside your tasks. Access them from the Resources page in the sidebar. You can upload files (images, PDFs, code, documents) or create plain text/markdown resources directly in the app.
Folders
Organize resources into folders using the breadcrumb navigation at the top of the page. Click "New Folder" to create a subfolder in the current location. Click a folder to navigate into it, or use the breadcrumb segments to navigate back up. Resources created or uploaded inherit the current folder.
Text Files & Editing
Text-based files are automatically detected by their extension. Supported formats include source code (.swift, .py, .js, .ts, etc.), markup (.html, .xml, .md), data formats (.json, .yaml, .csv), and config files (.env, .gitignore, .toml).
Text resources are stored in the database (not on external storage) and can be edited inline using the markdown editor. Click the edit button on any text resource to open the editor.
You can also create new text resources directly by clicking "New Text" and writing content in the markdown editor.
Image Preview
Image files (PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP) display a thumbnail preview in the resource list. Click the preview button to see a larger view. SVG files are treated as text and can be edited directly.
Linking to Tasks
Resources can be linked to tasks. Click the link button on a resource, search for a task by name or ID, and select it. Linked tasks appear as chips on the resource. Click the X on a chip to unlink. A resource can be linked to multiple tasks.
To point at a resource from text, type @ and its name (for example @spec or @docs/spec.md) in a task description, a note or a sticky note. It becomes a link to that resource.
Security & Encryption
Binary files (images, PDFs, archives) are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before being stored on Cloudflare R2. The encryption key is held exclusively on the Karea server. Neither Cloudflare nor anyone with direct storage access can read file contents.
Resources are only accessible to you and to members of the project the resource is associated with. They are never shared with third parties.
